Configuring Thunderbird / Desktop Client

To access your email you can use our Webmail Client, but we recomend that you use a native mail client to access your PansarPost account when possible. It will be faster and more convenient to use.

The native client we like to use is Thunderbird, a free and open source client that work well with PansarPost. Thunderbird is able to automatically configure itself with the correct settings if you log in with your PansarPost email address and password. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to do this.

If you prefer any other mail client, for instance Outlook, you can use the same settings as in the guide.

Click to show desktop client guide

First, if you haven't done so already, download and install Thunderbird from Thunderbirds official website.

Then find the little gear icon in the bottom left. Click it, then click "Account Actions", then press "Add Mail Account...".
Step 1

Then fill in your name, this is the name that will be displayed for the recipients of your emails.
Then fill in your PansarPost email address and password.
Step 2
When you click on the continue button at the bottom of the screen, Thunderbird will automatically fetch the correct settings for your account. It should look like the image below. If you are prompted to choose between IMAP and POP3 and you don't know which one to choose, choose IMAP. Learn more about the differences here.
Step 3
If the settings fail to fetch automatically, or if you are using a different desktop client than Thunderbird, you can manually enter the following values:

  Incoming server
Protocol: IMAP
Hostname: mail.pansarpost.se
Port: 143
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication method: Normal password
Username: <Your_PansarPost_email_address>

  Outgoing server
Hostname: smtp.pansarpost.se
Port: 587
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication method: Normal password
Username: <Your_PansarPost_email_address>

You can see an example of this below.
Step 3.5
After this configuration is finished, you should see that your accound was successfully added to Thunderbird. As below. Click finish to go to your inbox.
Step 4
You should see something like the image below on the left side of the screen. There you can navigate your inbox. To send mail, just click on "Write" in the top left corner.
Step 5

PansarPost on Phones

You can access PansarPost through your regular mail apps on you phone. There are a number of these apps. Some common ones include Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail. We like to use K-9 Mail, a free and open source mail client on Android. K-9 Mail is planned to transform into Thunderbird on Android.

Regardless of which app you use, the settings will be the same.
Click to show phone client guide

Most apps have a streamlined account setup process. When asked what type of account you want to add, choose manual or other. Then you will add the same configuration that you added in Thunderbird in the previous guide:

  Incoming server
Protocol: IMAP
IMAP Server: mail.pansarpost.se
Port: 143
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication method: Normal password
Username: <Your_PansarPost_email_address>

  Outgoing server
Hostname: smtp.pansarpost.se
Port: 587
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication method: Normal password
Username: <Your_PansarPost_email_address>

The difference is that there might not be one page where you enter all the settings at the same time.
This example is using K-9 Mail. You can use the same settings for any other app.

First enter your account and password. Step 1

Then you are prompted to choose between IMAP and POP3 and you don't know which one to choose, choose IMAP. Learn more about the differences here. Step 2

Then you fill in the settings for the incoming server. Step 3

Then you fill in the settings for the outgoing server. Step 4

Finally, fill in Your name, this is the name that will be displayed for the recipients of your emails. And if you like, name the account so you can easily identify it if you have multiple accounts. Step 5

Then you are done!
